How Much Sleep Do I Need?
Trouble sleeping? Studies show that the average adult needs between 6 and 8 hours of sleep every night to feel well rested. Unfortunately, not everyone gets the amount of sleep they need.
It’s estimated that as many as 40 million people in the U.S. have trouble sleeping. I know this first hand because I’m one of them.
My Sleep Disorder Story
If you are anything like me you only sleep about 4-6 hours per night. Now this doesn’t happen every day; but it does happen often enough that my doctor has diagnosed my sleep disorders symptoms and has characterized me as being a mild insomniac.
I would like to sleep 7 or 8 hours each night but that rarely happens. Now there are those rare occasions that I get a good night sleep, but usually just 4-6 hours is the norm for me.
What’s even odder about this is that it has nothing to do with when I go to bed. I have gone to bed as early as 6 pm, only to awake at 11 PM or as late as 2 AM in the morning, only to awake at 6 AM. Also, once I am up, I am up. I rarely fall back asleep.
